Privacy Policy

Your trust matters more to us than any single data point. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have. We collect only what genuinely helps us recommend better gifts — nothing more.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect details like your name, email address, and authentication information so we can sign you in and keep your saved ideas.

Behavioural data. To make recommendations feel chosen for you, we record how you use GoGifte — searches, saved gifts, chats with the AI Gift Assistant, and which recommendations you engage with.

Device and technical information. Like most sites, we receive your IP address, browser and device type, and analytics events. See our Cookie Policy for how cookies and similar technologies are used.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Recommendation personalisation. To understand a recipient and suggest gifts that fit, with a short "why this fits" — never to manipulate a purchase.
• Fraud prevention and safety. To protect accounts, merchants, and the marketplace from abuse.
• Analytics. To understand what's working and improve the Services, in aggregate wherever possible.
• Marketing. Only if you opt in. You can withdraw consent at any time, and every marketing message includes an unsubscribe option.

We do not sell your personal information, and affiliate revenue never influences how we rank or recommend gifts.

3. Data Sharing

We share data only where it's necessary to run GoGifte:

• Merchants. When you follow a link or make a purchase, you interact with a merchant under their own privacy practices. We do not pass your personal contact details to merchants for advertising; product-level and aggregate signals contain no directly identifying information.
• Analytics and infrastructure providers. Trusted processors (for example, hosting and privacy-respecting analytics) act on our instructions under contract.
• Legal compliance. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of GoGifte and its users.

4. Retention

We keep information only as long as it's useful for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires:

• Account data: kept for the lifetime of your account, then deleted or anonymised after closure.
• Behavioural data: retained for up to 12 months to power personalisation, then aggregated or removed.
• Audit and governance logs: retained for up to 7 years to meet governance and accountability requirements.

5. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. If you're in California, you have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights — and we don't sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact us using Section 8. We'll respond within the timeframes the law requires.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies to run the site, and — with your consent where required — functional, analytics, and (opt-in) marketing cookies. You can manage your choices any time. Full detail lives in our Cookie Policy.

7. Children (COPPA compliance)

GoGifte isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
